My son has an assignment for school where he has to design and build a vehicle that runs without batteries or any kind of electricity. They have a challenge in a few days where they all have to test their vehicles in the gym at school to see which one goes the longest distance. He decided to build a prototype this past weekend to see if his idea will work. He is using a spring and a string to wind around an axle to build up potential energy which will propel the vehicle forward when he lets it go. Next step is to build this at full scale out of wood. Thankfully, it doesn’t need to be very big, because we are completely vehicle-builded out at our house these days.
